A New Spin on an Old Fast Food Favorite!

I’ve learned a lot over these last couple of years. One thing I’ve learned is that the flavor is not in the bun on a burger! This salad is even yummier and allows enjoyment of great tasting food without the inflammation-inducing aspects of the burger.

One of the things I love as a HEALTH COACH is to tweak things so I still have delicious food with the added bonus of FEELING better after eating!

Let's do a little comparison....it’s eye opening

Try asking for a lettuce wrap/protein style or turning it into a salad when you order your next burger (though Micky D’s won’t do it) perhaps your local restaurant will - or make this one at home! I promise you will like it!

 

Recipe:

Big (Healthy) Mac In A Bowl 
 
1 Leaner | 1 Healthy Fat | 3 Green | 3 Condiments | ½ Optional Snack
 Yield: 1 serving
Total Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients
2 Tbsp diced yellow or white onion
5 oz. 95-97% lean ground beef
2 Tbsp Wish-Bone® Light Thousand Island Dressing
1/8 tsp white vinegar
1/8 tsp onion powder
3 cups shredded romaine lettuce
2 Tbsp reduced-fat shredded cheddar cheese
1 oz. dill pickle slices
1 tsp sesame seeds
Cooking spray
Directions
1. Heat a small, lightly greased skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onion and cook until fragrant, about 2 to 3 minutes. Add the beef and cook until fully browned.
2. Meanwhile, mix together dressing, vinegar, and onion powder.
To assemble: Top lettuce with ground beef and sprinkle with cheese. Top with pickle slices, drizzle with sauce, and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
